Tescott Schools is a PK-12 facility in Tescott, KS, a small rural community in southern Ottawa County. We currently serve 91 students at the elementary level and 73 at the junior high and high school level. With an average class size of 11, we are able to really hone in on the strengths and weaknesses of our students. We are a 1:1 environment grade 6-12, with sets of iPads at the elementary level. The small class sizes and the technology available offers our staff the optimal opportunity to work with students to reach their highest potential.
Tescott offers all the benefits of a small town, while being just a short drive from many other communities, including the larger urban area, Salina. We here at Tescott are proud of our history and continue to work diligently to prepare our students for their future
- Mr. Steven Kimmi Tescott Principal
What do our educators think of working in a small school?
"Small number of papers to grade! But seriously, I like the ability to really get to know kids well on a one-on-one level." "I LOVE that I have a small class. I can give much more attention to ten kids instead of twenty-five. My other favorite part is that I get to see the kids grow into young adults and watch them throughout their high school career." "I love how I can have fun with my students. It is nice to be able to create relationships with everyone of my students, whether it be sports talk, favorite music, or extra curricular activities! It is so fun to see them light up when you show interest in things that they are interested in because you know them so well! When it comes to school, I feel like I can take the time to work one-on-one as well so they better understand the curriculum!" "I like how the kids know each other and they seem to include kids who may not be included in 'the popular crowd' in a larger school. I feel like the kids are more accepting of exceptionalities, maybe because they have had the same group of kids in their classes since kindergarten."

What do our students think of growing up in a small town area and attending a small school? "I really enjoyed my time at Tescott High School. Everyone knows everyone. They know what you are doing before you even know for sure what you are doing. It is too small of a school to not try and get along with everyone." - S. P. " I enjoy living in a small town more than a big town because everyone knows you and takes the time to stop and say hello. Going to a small school is the same way. All the younger kids know you and look up to you. You learn to become a role model for others." - A. M. "Living in a small town is nice, everyone know who you are and always stops to talk to you. Going to a small school is nice too! Everyone can participate in any or all of the activities if they would like to." - K. M.
